H O W T O: Platinum Blonde Hair at Home

Hey guys!

So the number one thing i get asked about or complimented on is my hair. Everyone is always asking how do you get it that colour? how do you keep it that colour? how do you stop brassiness? and my most viewed blog post is the one about maintaining ash blonde  hair! So i thought it was FINALLY time to show everyone a quick over view of what i do to get my hair this colour (If you would like a more detailed step by step guide, let me know in the comments below!). I will be doing a root touch up here as i have no need to re-colour the rest of my hair.

***DISCLAIMER: I am not a professional hairdresser and i do not recommend that you do this yourself as you may not get the same results shown here, this is just what i do personally and what works well for me, You should always seek advice from a professional for hair colouring.

OK SO, first off these are the products i use for this whole process:

  1. Creme developer 30 VOL
  2. Any WHITE OR CLEAR conditioner
  3. Fudge violet toning shampoo
  4. Blue Hi Lift powder bleachIMG_1807

Firstly i will show you a greasy before photo of my hair – its best for me to bleach on dirty hair so the natural oils build up and help to protect my hair through the bleaching process.IMG_1810

To make the hair bleach i mix the powder and developer in a 1:2 ratio, so i normally use 3 spoons of hi lift powder and 6 spoons of 30 vol creme developer. Mix this up and get to work right away as it doesn’t lift as well if left too long. It should have a creamy consistency.IMG_1817IMG_1819IMG_1821

Next i apply the mix straight to the hair i want to lighten, being careful not to overlap the already bleached hair to prevent unnecessary damage to my hair, once I’ve applied this to my whole head (on the uncoloured hair) i leave it in  for 30 minutes-45 minutes and wrap my head in foil to let the bleach do its thang and keep the heat in. I never leave it on longer then 1 hour. IMG_1823

After 30-45 minutes my hair looks like this:IMG_1828

The next step is to rinse all the bleach out, then i shampoo with any shampoo i have and DO NOT condition the hair, i then towel dry it to start the toning process. Here is what it looks like fresh after bleaching with no toner:IMG_1836

Then, i get my conditioner and pour out enough to generously coat all of my hair into my container and then about a 20c piece size amount of purple shampoo and mix it all together to make a lilac coloured toner! I then apply this to the roots the same way i did with the bleach mix and then use whatever is left over to put through my ends for a freshen up and condition! I leave this is for about half an hour.IMG_1831IMG_1842

IMG_1844

And thats literally all i do! See below for the end result! I re-do this process every 6 weeks or so and have found this is what works best for me, normal toners are too harsh on my hair as it is so light and i dislike the grey/purple tinge they leave in my hair.IMG_184720170909437374272IMG_20170809_124348_893IMG_20170827_185920_257IMG_20170520_112019_980screenshot_20170427-205406.png

I hope that gave you an insight into how i get my hair this colour, if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask me in the comments, thank you so much for reading!! until next time ❤

R E V I E W: NYX LINGERIE LIQUID LIPSTICK

Hello Beauties!

Liquid lipsticks are everywhere now, all the big beauty brands sell them and if  your looking to buy one..or two or three it can be hard to know where to start! Hopefully this is where i can help you by reviewing the NYX Lingerie liquid lipsticks! If you want to know all about these lipsticks then keep reading!

IMG_1957

P R I C E:

I purchased my liquid lipsticks from Priceline for $14.95AU, i feel like this is a reasonable price and a nice medium between high end and low end lipsticks. Although if you plan on buying the whole collection this could end up being a small fortune! You get 4ml’s of product in each tube.

P A C K A G I N G:

The lingerie liquid lipsticks come in simple packaging, not too bulky – perfect to fit into a small clutch or bag if need be. It has a wand applicator with a long, flat tip. Im not particularly a fan of the applicator as i have small undefined lips and without a point on the wand and it being so large i find it difficult to get the perfect lip with this, i end up going back with concealer to create a nice even “lip line”.

R A N G E:

This range is all about the more subtle, nude shades hense the name of the line! There are 24 shades all up ranging from pinky nudes, to peachy nudes to deep browns. There is definitely a nude for everyone in this range. I feel as though there is quite a good selection to pick from because they have those “in-between” colours that a lot of other brands don’t have! so i didn’t find my self having the usual dilemma of ‘oh i like that one but i wish it was bit lighter or a tad more peachy’.

W E A R:

I am pretty impressed with how these wear over the day! compared to some other brands of liquid lipsticks these are very lightweight on the lips and you only need one thin layer to get full colour payoff. If you do more then one layer it does tend to cake up and dry out so try not to layer it up if possible, also if you can’t stand the ‘dry’ feeling of matte liquid lipsticks i find patting on a light layer of lip balm before applying the lipstick   works really well to avoid that feeling without compromising the matte finish.

Top to Bottom: Lace Detail, Push Up, Bedtime Flirt, Embellishment, Exotic

O V E R A L L:

Overall i think these lipsticks are a great buy! The quality for the price is really good, you get a decent amount of product – they last a really long time and the colour range is great… 24 shades!? Its hard to resist buying every colour! There is definitely a shade for everyone in this range.

Thanks for reading lovelies ❤

Colour Pop Cosmetics Pressed Eyeshadow Review

Good morning Beauties!

I have been purchasing a lot of makeup recently and one of the things i bought a few months ago was the colour pop new pressed eyeshadows. I already had the super shock eyeshadows and loved them so i was excited to try out the pressed eyeshadows.

img_1961

PRICE:

Guys, these eyeshadows are so cheap. One thing colour pop does right is their prices! Colour pop products are perfect for anyone starting out in makeup and doesn’t want to spend a fortune, or just for those people who love a good quality product for a low price! The pressed eyeshadows retail for $5US on the Colour Pop website – so. cheap. I can never help my self when browsing through the website, i end up with 20 eyeshadows because well, why not!

APPLICATION:

These eyeshadows are so smooth and silky, you can’t even feel the product on your skin! I typically use a soft fluffy brush to apply these eyeshadows to the crease and then a flat stiff brush for the lid, or my finger – whatever I’m feelin that day. Since the product is so soft it really makes application a breeze as it goes on so perfect that its hard to make any mistakes really. I haven’t tried any of the lighter shades so i couldn’t tell you if they come off chalky at all but the darker shades i have purchased are lovely.

img_1962

Colours Top to Bottom: Made to last, I owe you, wait for it, Making moves, Stay Golden.

PACKAGING:

The pressed shadows simply come in a metal pan that you will need to put into your own palette, i use a z palette to hold mine. So if you don’t have one of these it could be a bother as you will either need to purchase one or, leave the pan in the plastic sleeve it comes in so you don’t risk dropping it and cracking the shadow, or losing it.

OVERALL:

I absolutely LOVE these eyeshadows! since buying these i have used them on a daily basis and i can’t put them down. I will definitely be purchasing more of these and for the price i might just buy every colour available! I do hope they extend the line and bring out more colours in the pressed eyeshadow range.

Thanks so much for reading guys! Check out my Instagram for more beauty and makeup lovin!

Tarte Cosmetics Shape Tape Concealer Review

Hey guys!

Everybody loves a good concealer and has particular things they always consider before purchasing one, it hopes it will be the perfect pick! The Shape Tape Concealer from Tarte is everywhere on the internet at the moment, you can’t miss it! So i thought a review of this concealer will help a lot of people decide if they want to fork out the money to buy it, or not!img_1953

PRICE:

Firstly the price is definitely on the more high end side retailing for $37US on the Tarte website. This may seem a little too much for some people for a concealer but i do feel you get a lot of product out of this as a little goes a long way!

PACKAGING:

The packaging is a simple plastic tube with a twist off lid and a doe foot applicator. Let me tell you, the doe foot applicator is HUGE! It does make it easy to get as much product as you need in one swipe for time poor gals, although i feel like i always end up with wayy too much product on mine and i constantly need to wipe the tip on the edge of the bottle other wise i end up wasting product because i have too much on my face and no amount of blending is going to camouflage that! Another thing that frustrates me about this packaging is that because too much product comes out and i wipe the excess on the tip of the bottle, i end up with concealer all over the twist section of the cap and to me that is such a waste of product. The packaging could be improved.img_1954img_1956

APPLICATION:

This concealer honestly applies like a dream! it is so creamy yet light on your skin, it does not look cakey what so ever yet still gives you full coverage. One thing i struggle with is creasing. Every concealer i use always creases within seconds and i can’t even get in quick enough with a setting powder before the creasing starts, but with the Shape Tape i honestly did not have this problem at all! I was really shocked at how well it sat on the skin without being set with a powder. This concealer also has a light floral scent which is really nice and refreshing while still not being over powering. I picked up the colour Light-Neutral and i found this perfect for my fair skin tone. I use a darker foundation when i fake tan and this still matched perfectly to my darker foundation as well.

WEAR:

I wear this every single day and let me tell you, this baby holds up SO well… its amazing, on my skin it does not crease, slide off, fade, nothing! it just stays perfect how it should be all day. I also applied some of this on my eyelids as i have prominent veins on my eyelids and then eyeshadow over the top of that and it did not effect my eyeshadows wear either which is great. When it comes to the wear of this i honestly have no complaints what so ever.

OVERALL:

If your looking for a full coverage, build able, long wearing, non creasing concealer that you can also use for highlighting AND contouring, then i highly recommend picking this one up! Its totally worth the money and you get a lot of product. I have definitely found my new holy grail concealer! Tate have totally stepped up their game lately with their products and i can’t wait to see what they come up with next!

Have a beautiful day!

Review: Sleek Highlighting Palettes

Morning Beauties!

Today I’m doing a review of the cream and powder highlighting palettes from Sleek Cosmetics. I have seen and heard a lot about both of these and i am excited to share my opinions with you!img_1900

Packaging:

The packaging is super sleek and stylish, the powder compact has a reflective gold case with 4 shades inside while the cream compact has a gun metal coloured case and also has 4 shades. Each case comes with an applicator brush to use which is convenient for any one using these palettes on the go or while travelling. There is also a large mirror on the inside of the lid. The exterior is a sturdy case which i feel is good for protecting the product inside  while its in your handbag or makeup case and again for those travelling with the palette.

Product:

Cream – I am not a huge fan of cream anything really as i feel powder is easier to work with, Although these cream highlighters do have a nice colour pay off and seem to be quite long lasting – they dont budge during my 12 hour days which is great! One of the shades in this palette is a powder which is great if you didn’t want to buy the two palettes. There is a nice variety of shades in here including a frosty cream, a pinkish gold, a pale gold and a darker bronze colour. I feel there is a nice range of colours for all skin types to pick from this palette, this would be a great one to add to a makeup artists kit.img_1902

Powder: One thing i love about this highlighting palette is that it is so different to everything else on the market! The colours are not your ordinary gold, pale gold and bronze, Sleek have mixed it up with this one adding a frosty pinkish lavender shade and a coral orange shade – perfect for anyone who doesn’t like to follow mainstream trends and is a unique individual. The colour pay off is great the only thing i don’t really enjoy is there is a lot of glitter in these colours, i prefer a soft shimmer to give a subtle glow. I also feel like the colours are really light once applied so people with tanned or dark skin may find these shades hard to work with as they will give off a frosty colour. This palette again has one cream shade for variety.img_1903img_1906

Overall:

These palettes are super cute and stylish, have plenty of shades for variety so a lot of people can use these and they are really affordable! You can’t really go wrong with it! These palettes would be great for anyone starting out their makeup collection or kit. Have you used these highlighting palettes before? If so, whats your Favourite shade?

Thanks for reading, have a lovely day!

F O U N D A T I O N F I X: Kat Von D Lock It Foundation

Good morning Beauties!

My second #foundationfix feature is the Kat Von D Lock It Foundation! This foundation is very popular in the makeup lover world so i feel its one worth reviewing.img_1925

Lets kick it off with what the Company claims this foundation will do for you: ‘This foundation has 21% pigment (wow), has a blend of siliconic elastomers and esters which bind the formula so your foundation is fade free.’

There really wasn’t too much on the website about this product other then what i just showed you which is weird, although this foundation is really hyped about its full coverage which explains why it boasts about 21% pigment.

THE PACKAGING:

This foundation comes in a plastic cylinder and has an airless chamber to avoid  contamination and helps to maintain the foundations consistency. I think the packaging is very nice, i believe Kat Von D designs all her own patterns in her makeup line which is pretty cool, and it adds a nice touch to her line. The bottle also comes with a little plastic lid which i recommend keeping as it prevents you from accidently pushing out product while its in your bag or suitcase etc.img_1935

HOW IT APPLIES/WEARS:

This foundation is extremely thick, in saying that i believe you only need a small amount of product as the pigmentation is so full on that you wouldn’t want to go overboard and end up looking cake. I use about a pea size amount and only one layer is necessary to get full coverage with a beauty blender. If you prefer a sheer, natural or skin like foundation this one is not for you! It sets matte and does tend to look a little un-natural. I mainly reach for this if i am looking for flawless coverage for a special event, this foundation is not one  would wear on a daily basis personally. The foundation wears really well throughout the day, staying matte and does not fade or slide off so it is great when you are really relying on your foundation to last all day and night! I really like matte finishes so i do find this foundation to be flattering on my oily skin but only when used in a small amount, its easy to go overboard with this one!  See below for photos of the foundation on my skin and also with and without flash on my wrist.screenshot_20170130-142313

img_1937

Without Flash

img_1938

With Flash

OVERALL:

I believe this foundation would be great for makeup artists to have in their kit for photo shoot makeup, or for anyone who loves a good matte, full coverage foundation. You get a great amount of product for the price considering how little you need to use. This product is also vegan. The only issue i have with this is it makes my skin break out like crazy! I am assuming it has something to do with the pigmentation as i normally don’t break out or if i do its no where near as bad as what it is with this foundation. I would recommend using this for special events or for occasions where you need your foundation to hold up through a long, hot day. I probably wouldn’t personally re purchase this as i just don’t use it enough! Have you tried this foundation? Whats your thoughts on it?

I hope you guys enjoyed my review, have a beautiful day!

REVIEW: Maybelline Contouring Palette

Hey guys!

Whats up? I feel like i haven’t made a post in a long time and to be honest its just one of those times in life where i can get inspired and motivated to do anything! buuuut I’m back and I’m bringing you a review of Maybelline’s Master Sculpt Contouring Palette!

Just the word ‘contour’ scares a lot of people because they don’t know how to do it, where to put it, what it does and how it will turn out. So i thought i would quickly explain these things to you before i jump into my review. Contouring is used for shaping your face. Pretty much any areas of the face/body you want to draw attention away from is where you want to apply your contour.  Most people use contouring on areas like cheeks, nose, forehead, chin, and neck. For example if you feel like you have a large forehead and wish to make it appear “smaller” then you would contour the sides of your forehead and around your hair line. This will draw attention away from your forehead and draw attention to areas like your eyes and nose. For your cheeks, you can apply contour in the hollows of your cheeks and a great way to figure out where this is on yourself is run your pointer finger down the side of your cheek and where you feel your finger drop in a little is where you should be contouring. This gives the illusion of a slimmer face and defined cheek bones (think Instagram makeup!). Now that you have a better understanding of what contouring is lets dive into the review!

IMG_1677.JPGThis contour kit comes in two colours – light and medium. I use the light shade and its perfect for my skin tone! (for reference i use the shade ‘Vanilla’ in the L’Oreal pro matte foundation). In this kit you get a contouring shade which fills most of the pan and a highlighting shade also. Underneath the pan they also provide you with a small travel size contouring brush and a mirror which is always handy. I don’t use the highlighting shade much as i like something a bit more full on but this whole kit would be great for contouring and highlighting newbies.

IMG_1681.JPG

I struggled to find a contour colour that didn’t make my face look really muddy and dark as all the previous brands i had tried did not provide a colour light enough for me so whenever i attempted to contour it just put me off wanting to keep trying because i couldn’t find a colour that looked half normal on me.. until now! This colour is perfect for me, you don’t need to use a lot of product at all and it applies really smoothly. I use this on most areas of my face including cheek bones, nose, forehead and chin and i don’t look like a pig who’s been rolling in mud which is always a great outcome! To apply this contouring shade i use a flat contour brush. I believe mine is from the brand models prefer.

IMG_1680.JPGOVERALL SCORE: 9/10

I LOVE this contour palette, its light enough for people with fair skin that still want to achieve pro makeup looks, its in a great travel size pan, its very affordable retailing at $19.95 at Priceline in AUS and it blends on the skin perfectly and lasts all day. If your new to contouring i highly recommend this over any other contouring product on the drugstore market – its hard to make a mistake with this product!

Thank you so so much for reading my short review, i hope i was able to give you some helpful tips and hints about contouring and a good over view of this product. Let me know your thoughts of this product below! Be sure to follow my Instagram account for new makeup looks and reviews daily.. thats all from me! Have an amazing day.
